HISTORY

Manual lymphatic drainage was pioneered by Danish Dr. Emil Vodder and his wife Estrid Vodder in the 1930s. They then devoted their lives travelling around Europe holding lectures & courses to explain the structure & function of the Lymphatic system & the benefits of their technique which now has the recognition & acceptance today within the NHS & Private health sector.

WHAT IT DOES

MLD is a very gentle skin technique massage which stimulates & improves the efficiency of the lymphatic system which is our body’s waste disposal system. This stimulation increases the removal of waste, fluid & toxins from the body’s tissues thus improving normal healthy function.

ABOUT NIKKI PINKNEY

Nikki has been a holistic therapist for over 12 years & first discovered her fascination with the lymphatic system after having an operation herself. Whilst recovering she investigated how to speed up her healing & discovered some basic lymphatic drainage techniques, she performed different techniques on herself & her results were visible over several days. Her surgeon was also impressed. Nikki feels that MLD is a very important part of post-surgical recovery, enabling the patient to heal at a faster rate, reducing downtime & the need for problematic post-op follow-up appointments.

She also discovered that MLD has very powerful effects on treating many other conditions, so decided to dedicate her time into training in the Dr. Vodder method of MLD to which she holds the full Vodder certification in manual lymphatic drainage & decongestive lymphatic therapy & is a Full member of MLD UK – Professional association of Manual lymphatic drainage practitioners which ensures a high standard of training amongst its members, requiring regular review to maintain certification & to whom has strong links within the medical profession.
